Jordan Spieth lets his back-to-back Master’s bid slip away after holding a five shot lead.

Jordan Spieth, after he making the turn, looked to be a sure winner of his second straight Masters tournament. However, Spieth fell apart on holes 10, 11 and 12 and lost what looked to be a legendary performance.

The 22-year-old had a chance to win back-to-back Masters while holding the lead from wire-to-wire in both tournaments, which has never been done in any major. Despite being 7 under after hole nine, three holes later, Spieth found himself at 1 under, three back of the eventually champion, Danny Willett.

This seemed to be the first time in his professional career that the stage got to Jordan Spieth. He bogeyed holes 10 and 11, but he still had the lead going to the twelfth hole. Hole 12 turned out to be the demise of the young superstar. He hit his first shot into the water, as well as his second shot. He hit his fifth into the sand on the far side of the par three green. He ended up making a seven on the par three.

He turned his downfall around well, but he couldn’t come back all the way. He threatened after he birdied on 15 to bring the lead to within two. But after only making par on 16 and bogey on 17, Spieth’s chance at history came and went. Here is how it ended.

Danny Willett -5 through 72

Jordan Spieth -2 through 72

Lee Westwood -2 through 72

Paul Casey -1 through 72

Dustin Johnson -1 through 72
