RB. Ohio State. Ezekiel Elliott. 8. player. 54.
This pick would certainly cause a stir.

That isn’t to say that mocking Ezekiel Elliott to the Eagles hasn’t been considered. Many pundits have made this projection since Philadelphia pulled off the trade to move into the top ten. However, it is always controversial (and super interesting) when a team invests a top-tier draft pick on a running back, and this certainly fits that bill.

New Eagles head coach Doug Pederson built his offense in Kansas City around Jamaal Charles, and it is easy to envision him doing the same thing with Elliott in Philly. Nearly everyone in the draft sphere agrees that Elliott is a prototypical three-down back at the NFL level, and it comes down to a value proposition as to whether that draft “expert” believes it is worth taking any running back this early.

For me, this would be a reach, but Miller ranks Elliott as the number eight overall player (what a coincidence) and Philly’s offense isn’t blessed with an elite quarterback that can help them transition quickly. The Eagles can lean on Elliott in 2016 and beyond, which immediately increases the value of an elite running back.

This isn’t an out-of-the-box pick anymore, but it definitely makes sense.
