San Diego Chargers: Full 7-round mock draft
Karl Joseph is kind of a risk for teams because he missed half of his senior season due to an ACL tear. But Joseph has the tenacity that brings players back from injury even better than before. He would be a great addition to the Chargers defense, lacking in the defensive back area.
Joseph has the skill set to be a great safety in the NFL. He has good cover ability over the top, he wants to make plays and he wants to lay the hammer down. Joseph is one of the top hitters in the draft this season, which helps his case for being a great leader.
Although he missed half of his senior season, he earned All Big-12 honors his junior season and started his freshman and sophomore years for the Mountaineers. In four weeks of his senior season he led the country with five interceptions. He is a ball hawk, whether it is catching the ball or hitting the person who has the ball.
Many teams will be concerned with his health and his size, but his upside is worth the risk for the Chargers. They need a leader on defense and someone who has the ability to lay the wood. He can come in and start for this team.
