Mega Leks (Croatia). Ivica Zubac. 28. player. 66.
Zubac hasn’t played much this season, having been locked out of playing time at Cibona Zagreb and literally being locked out of playing for Mega Leks after an arbitration dispute. He returned to action recently with Mega Leks of the Serbian League, and on Monday joined Timothe Luwawu in declaring for the draft. While Zubac hasn’t been able to show much of his talent, he’s a player who could eventually fit in the NBA as a modern center.

Zubac’s massive size and excellent mobility are a nice combination, and he uses both well to formulate a superb post game. He’s a skilled passer from the post as well, and he also could operate well in a fast-paced offense, as he runs the floor well and is an excellent pick-and-roll finisher, and he is Andrew Bogut-esque in his screen-setting. He may need significant work on his shot from outside the paint, though, and that may limit his offensive ability, especially if he’s paired with another non-shooting big. Defensively, Zubac recovers well and is good at denying the post, and while he’s an underwhelming rebounder, he should be able to grow into a good rim protector as his body matures. Pairing him with Alex Len would allow the Suns to have multiple bruising defensive centers, and Zubac’s post game appears translatable to being a legitimate offensive weapon.

Zubac’s biggest strength for the Suns would be with flexibility for his contract. He’s rumored to be ready to hop to the NBA next season, but he does have a multi-year deal with Mega Leks, allowing the Suns to let him develop overseas while they continue to decide if Len is a long-term part of their future.

To learn more about Ivica Zubac, click here.
.
