Dragan Bender. 3. player. 18.
The main reason that Bender isn’t getting consideration for the top two spots in the draft might be exposure – after all, Bender spent most of the season at the end of the bench for a floundering Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel. But, while Bender couldn’t get much playing time, he made statements with the time he did get. Bender’s offensive game looks very desirable, as he has the touch and athleticism to finish inside (51.2 percent shooting in Israeli League play), and he’s lethal from the corners outside the arc (39.7 percent shooting across all competitions). He’s also developing as a passer, averaging 2.1 assists per 40 minutes and showing good decision-making when playing as more of a role player for Maccabi.

Defensively, Bender’s also made a good impact. He’s a little foul prone at this stage (6.9 fouls per 40 min.), but he’s flashed ability as a rim protector, headlined by a gave-saving block to beat Dinamo Sassari in one of Maccabi Tel Aviv’s few good Euroleague performances. Bender makes really solid rotations as a defender, and while strength is an issue, he should continue to add size as he matures and turn into a very good two-way player.

The Celtics have some decisions to make in their frontcourt this offseason, with Amir Johnson on a non-guaranteed contract and Jared Sullinger a restricted free agent. Adding Bender would be a fantastic way to compensate for losing one or both guys, as he pairs nicely with Kelly Olynyk’s hustle and would help give Boston incredible spacing on the offensive end.

To learn more about Dragan Bender, click here.
.
