Germain Ifedi – Offensive Tackle – Texas A&M

Not very flashy picks thus far in the draft, but the Titans need players that aren’t flashy. Simply put, they need linemen on either side of the ball. Ifedi started three years at Texas A&M, which has proven to be a solid school in producing good offensive linemen for the draft.

Ifedi has great size for the NFL at six six, 324 pounds. He was second team All-SEC and played at right tackle for most of his career. He also blocked for many quarterbacks like Mariota, who likes to scramble and throw on the run.

Germain has long arms and a wide base, making it tough for defenders to get around him. He is versatile, playing guard and right tackle in his career with the Aggies and can move quickly enough to cut off the shifty edge rusher.

He does need to work on his feet technically as well as cutting down on false starts. But the Titans need this type of player. Not only to add to their depth on the offensive line but someone who really knows how to protect a quarterback like Marcus Mariota. Because asking a tackle to protect Peyton Manning and Marcus Mariota are two different tasks, and Ifedi knows how to protect a player like Mariota.
