4. C- Jonathan Lucroy
Like the Padres, the Milwaukee Brewers are in a transition phase. One chip that they can move as they look to the future is their former All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy.
The 2015 season was a tough year for Lucroy as he battled injury and didn’t produce the kind of All-Star caliber numbers he did in 2014.
The Brewers don’t have to move Lucroy, though one of the things that makes him so attractive to other teams is his contract. Lucroy is set to earn $4 million this year and has a $5.2 million option for 2017 that will surely be picked up by whatever team has Lucroy, because if he were to be a free agent, he could probably get closer to three times that per season.
Catching is hard to come by in the game now, especially ones that can provide you solid offensive production along with game calling and leadership behind the plate. At the time of this post, Lucroy was leading the league in runners caught stealing. Lucroy can also step in and help at first base in order to keep his bat in the lineup.
Lucroy could be a huge acquisition for many teams, and the competition for his services should be steep towards the deadline.
Next: 3. Jay Bruce
