Chicago Bears. 4. player. 57. . NFC. North

2016 will probably be another frustrating year for the NFC North’s Chicago Bears. While the Bears seem to have a good head coach in John Fox, Chicago did lose one of the best offensive coordinators in the game in Adam Gase to the Miami Dolphins’ head coaching vacancy.

Bears starting quarterback Jay Cutler played some great ball in Gase’s offense in 2015, but may experience some regression in the new Bears’ offense in 2016. Cutler may be on a long-term deal with the Bears, but his erratic nature as a starting quarterback and Chicago’s bare quarterback depth chart could make the Bears a possible destination for Hoyer.

While Hoyer wouldn’t win the starting quarterback job over the high-priced Cutler, he would have to beat out most notably David Fales to be the team’s primary backup. Since Chicago will likely finish in last place in the NFC North again in 2016, Fox may want to go with somebody else at quarterback if Cutler struggles mightily in the first half of the season.

Throughout his NFL career, Hoyer has proven that he can come into any situation and win ball games. He doesn’t do it magnificently, but does seem to play his best ball in the fourth quarter. That is an area of Cutler’s game that has never developed. For a backup gig, joining the 2016 Bears could make a great deal of sense for Hoyer to extend his NFL career.
