If things continue to get worse in Milwaukee, perhaps the best place that Walton can become a first-time NBA head coach is with the 2017-18 Milwaukee Bucks. He will inherit so many great, young players like point forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, power forward Jabari Parker, and shooting guard Khris Middleton.

Milwaukee is supposedly not all-in on second-year head coach Jason Kidd. While Kidd did bring a great defensive mentality to Milwaukee in his first season with the team in 2014-15, Milwaukee suffered major growing pains in 2015-16 and failed to make the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Some members the Bucks’ ownership group didn’t like how Kidd opted to have hip surgery mid-season instead of waiting until this summer to have the procedure. Kidd may have been a Hall of Fame point guard in his playing career, but he doesn’t have the Bucks on the rise entering year three, despite having loads of talent on his young roster.

There is also some concern that general manager John Hammond may leave Milwaukee, most likely to replace Demps in New Orleans. Since Hammond is responsible for many of the Bucks’ great draft selections of late, it may be in Walton’s best interest to see where Hammond goes before deciding on a head coaching vacancy.

Regardless of if Hammond stay or goes in Milwaukee, Walton has to like that the Bucks play in the East and have Antetokounmpo on the brink of being a top 10 player in the league. Along with Davis in New Orleans and Karl-Anthony Towns with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Antetokounmpo has to be on the short list for the best on-the-rise talent in the NBA. With the right personnel decisions, Walton and Antetokounmpo would help the Bucks go very deep in the NBA Playoffs for the next decade.
