We can all be honest with each other: things are not going well inside Madison Square Garden. The team is falling apart, it doesn’t seem like anyone actually wants to be the head coach of the Knicks and executive Phil Jackson is probably plotting how to get out of town (and join his fiancé with the Los Angeles Lakers).

Signing Mike Conley wouldn’t make the Knicks an instant contender or maybe even a playoff team, but the front office is so desperate at this point to at least look like things will be different that they might we willing to throw truckloads of money at Conley to get him in the Big Apple.

Conley is a Midwest native who has been in the league long enough to not be blinded by the big lights of the city that never sleeps, but if the Knicks are willing to be the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NBA (throw enough money at a free agent so they don’t notice how bad the team is), Conley might decide that if he isn’t going to win a title during his entire career, he might as well get paid in the process.
