4. Rick Porcello-Boston Red Sox

Porcello and the Red Sox host the offensively-challenged Rays tonight, and the Red Sox really need Porcello to go deep in the game to give their over-worked bullpen a break.  Coming into today’s start, Porcello is owned in 14.4% of ESPN leagues, but I think he’s worth a look as he takes the mound tonight.

In his last start, Porcello looked excellent with his new battery-mate Christian Vazquez.  He held the Blue Jays (mostly ) in check allowing three runs on just two hits in 6.1 innings.  He is 2-0 coming into tonight’s start despite a 5.11 ERA.  He does have a nice 0.89 WHIP and has allowed opponents to hit just .196 against him.  He should fare better tonight against the Rays since has had to face the power-packed Blue Jays lineup in both his first two starts.

Tonight, Porcello will be matchup up against the Rays’ Chris Archer which could make a win difficult especially given the way the Red Sox are not hitting right now. However, Porcello has good upside tonight and should be able to bring the strikeouts as well since he has 15 in his 12.1 innings so far this season.
