1. Chad Bettis-Colorado Rockies

Taking a Rockies pitcher as a fantasy baseball option is always tricky, but it definitely helps Bettis’s case that tonight’s game isn’t in the rarified air of Coors Field but instead at Great American Ball Park against the Reds.

Bettis will be making his fourth start of the season and comes in 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA and a solid 1.20 WHIP.  He has allowed just one earned run total in his last two starts spanning 13 innings.  He has walked three and given up nine hits in those two outings while picking up a solid ten strikeouts. Both of his good starts were afternoon outings as well, so he seems to thrive in daytime starts.

Bettis isn’t going to pile up K’s, but he should be able to turn in a solid outing in a good matchup today as he faces a Reds team that has lost six of seven coming into last night’s game. He’ll be opposed by Raisel Iglesias in a matchup where I think he can pick up a win.
