Green Bay Packers – Aaron Rodgers (No. 24 pick, 2005)

Aaron Rodgers was drafted in 2005 and did not take over as the starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers until 2008. As a first round pick, that is basically unheard of at this point but, well, Brett Favre exists. To be honest, that makes the decision to take Rodgers even more impressive, and the team’s current quarterback doubles as the right choice here.

The Packers pounced on the opportunity to tab Rodgers as their signal-caller of the future after he unexpectedly slid down the board on draft day. To reward them, Rodgers has become arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, earning two league MVP awards and leading the Packers to a Super Bowl victory earlier in his career.

As you may expect with a franchise with this much history, there is no shortage when it comes to available candidates to choose from for this award. However, Rodgers sliding to the bottom of the first round is the clincher, as he is one of the more valuable players in franchise history and Brett Favre was, of course, not a draft pick of the Packers.

This one will keep looking better and better and it is already awesome for Green Bay.
