Every NFL team’s best draft pick of all-time

Los Angeles Rams – Eric Dickerson (No. 2 pick, 1983)
Younger fans probably have no clue as to how electric Eric Dickerson was in his prime. It is a good thing that folks have been reminded of his collegiate exploits by recent documentaries (shout-out to ESPN’s 30 for 30), but after Dickerson departed from SMU, he was a fantastic NFL running back for the Rams.
Though it is tough to credit Los Angeles for simply taking an awesome player with the number two overall pick, the Rams should get a little bit of love for avoiding the pot holes that accompany any draft. As for his on-field exploits, Dickerson was dominant right out of the shoot, amassing 1,808 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns as a 23-year-old rookie.
Then, he put together his signature season in 1984, rushing for 2,105 yards (5.6 yards per tote) and a league-leading 14 touchdowns. For the uninitiated, Dickerson’s rushing record still stands to this day, and he followed that up with two additional seasons with more than 3,000 combined rushing yards before departing from the Rams organization.
If there is a knock on his profile, it is that Dickerson wasn’t in Los Angeles for very long, but with a shortage of qualified candidates, he was pretty awesome in a Rams uniform.
