5. A.J. Griffin-Texas Rangers

Griffin takes the mound for the Rangers tonight for the first time this season at home as Texas closes out their series with their in-state rivals from Houston. Griffin earned his spot in the rotation with a strong spring after sitting out two seasons since he pitched with the A’s before Tommy John surgery.

He has gotten off to a strong start for the Rangers allowing a total of four earned runs in 11 innings for a 3.27 ERA.  He picked up the win in his first start of the year in Anaheim and didn’t factor in the decision in his last start against the Mariners.  He walked four in that outing in Seattle, so he’ll need to stay under control tonight against Houston who has a potent lineup.

Griffin will be opposed tonight my former-Ranger Scott Feldman who has gotten off to a rough start, so there’s a good chance he can ear his second win of the season if he is able to turn in another quality outing.  Griffin is owned in just 1.2% of ESPN leagues and is a flier to take a shot on if you are looking for win and can afford some risk.
