Adrien Broner thinks that Morgan Freeman is more important than Harriet Tubman
By David Rouben
Famous boxer Adrien Broner is all for a black person being put on the 20 dollar bill, but thinks that Harriet Tubman is the wrong choice.
In case you have been living under a rock, you would know that Harriet Tubman is going to be put on the $20 bill. She is a very important figure in black history, having rescued many slaves while she was one herself and sacrificing her life for the good of others.
Adrien Broner might not be living under a rock, but he did just get out of jail, where he served time for reckless driving in Ohio. As such, he might not be the right person to ask for an opinion on this matter, but without asking, he gave his two cents anyway and it’s… well, colorful. (warning: following post contains NSFW language)
That’s right. Broner thinks that Morgan Freeman is a more important black historical figure than Harriet Tubman, and that he should be on the $20 bill. Considering that he himself is black, that is a mind boggling assertion to make. He even got his facts about Morgan Freeman wrong. He didn’t star in his first movie at 63, he’s been acting as early as 1964, when he was 27 years old.
You might think that this is the by-product of Broner suffering too much brain damage from his profession, but he’s always been a loudmouth with outrageous opinions. He also loves money, judging by about half of his Instagram profile. The most prominent example is this clip where he throws a wad of cash in the middle of Walmart, and nobody bats an eye because… well, because Walmart:
With antics like this, it’s pretty surprising that he didn’t insert himself onto the $20 bill, but that’s probably because he’s too busy putting himself on the $100 bill.
