2. Kendall Graveman-Oakland Athletics
Graveman was a promising prospect last year who struggling in his first year in the Majors finishing with a 4.06 ERA in his 21 starts with a 6-9 record. There were good flashes at times, but he wasn’t consistent enough throughout the season despite a very strong June (3-2, 1.93 ERA).
This season, Graveman has started on that kind of roll going 1-1 with a 2.04 ERA. He has turned in two straight quality outings against the Angels and Yankees striking out a total of 11 batters in 12.1 innings while allowing just two runs on seven hits. He lost his first start of the year to Chicago but wasn’t that bad giving up just two earned runs in 5.1 innings.
Tonight, he takes the mound against the Tigers at Comerica Park. It will be his second career start against Detroit after he beat them last year allowing three runs in six innings. He has the momentum coming into tonight’s start and is available in over 90% of ESPN leagues.
