Ole Miss. Laremy Tunsil. 3. player. 13.
Remember when Laremy Tunsil was the no-doubt number one pick? Those were the days…

Anyway, Tunsil remains the top player on a lot of NFL Draft boards, and the Chargers would be getting a hefty steal here if the draft plays out as most think that it will. San Diego is not a team with one need and one need alone, but this selection would allow their front office to combine a significant roster weakness with the best player available mindset. In short, that is the perfect combination of what any NFL team would like to do in the draft.

Tunsil looks like a finished product as a left tackle prospect, as he is one of the best pass-blocking tackles in this class combined with the power and aggressiveness to win in the running game. He is the best combination of the two traits of any offensive lineman in 2016, and even if San Diego latches on to a defensive prospect (Jalen Ramsey or DeForest Buckner, most likely), it would be hard to argue that Tunsil is not the safest choice that the franchise could make here.

It would be risky to rule out the Chargers as a potential trade partner, especially if one of the two quarterbacks somehow slips past the Browns at number two. As constructed, though, San Diego is a team that gets its top player (they have no quarterback need) without trading up and that is a win.
. OT
