The Browns did a good thing! No, really, they did!

As mentioned previously with regard to the number two pick, Cleveland made the prudent decision to move down in this draft and assemble an arsenal of future picks to improve a roster chalked full of holes. In keeping with that spirit, the Browns should take the best player available, and that is DeForest Buckner.

It, of course, helps that Buckner is a great fit as a defensive end in Cleveland’s 3-4 scheme, and at 6-f00t-7 and more than 290 pounds, he is ready to serve as a quality starter immediately. Unlike some of the other top defensive ends in this class, Buckner is not a pure pass-rusher by any stretch, but he does boast the quickness and craftiness needed to get to the quarterback with regularity, and Buckner might be the best run-stuffing defensive end in the entire class.

Would it be a surprise if the Browns went rogue here? Absolutely not. There is already chatter surrounding the potential selection of Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch and that would be a wild reach in the top ten picks. Still, Cleveland is showing that this might be an organizational shift for the better, and picking Buckner in this scenario is the best way to stay on that encouraging path.
. DE. Oregon.
