Miami Dolphins – Ted Ginn Jr. (No. 9 pick, 2007)

Ted Ginn Jr. is still an active player in the NFL, and I guess there is still time for him to do something worthwhile.

Who are we kidding? That’s not going to happen.

There is something to be said for any player who stays in the league for nearly a decade, and Ginn Jr. should be commended for that. However, there is no one silly enough to claim that he has maximized his immense talent at the professional level, and very few players have been as frustrating as Ginn Jr. has been during his NFL career.

From a Dolphins perspective, the evaluation of this pick is quite grim. Ginn Jr. did contribute nearly 1,700 receiving yards over his three seasons in Miami, but that production came with endless drops and overall frustration from a player that doesn’t execute well. For all of his faults, Ginn Jr. is certainly an above-average return man at times, using his electric speed and elusiveness to his advantage, but NFL organizations do not draft kick returners in the top ten.

Ginn Jr. is a useful player, but the bust label suits him well for Miami, especially given that the great majority of his NFL work has been performed elsewhere.
