New York Giants – Cedric Jones (No. 5 pick, 1996)

I really, really wanted to pull the trigger on Ron Dayne for this spot, but I just couldn’t justify it. The former Wisconsin running back and Heisman Trophy winner was a bust at the NFL level to be sure, but he was occasionally productive and is probably knocked more than he should be because of his lengthy college track record.

In the case of Cedric Jones, though, no such defense exists.

To be fair to the Giants, Jones was blind in one eye (no, really, he was) and the team didn’t know it at the time of the draft. That probably impacted his career in a negative way, and the former Oklahoma pass rusher did not exactly produce at the NFL level. He accumulated just 15 sacks over a five-year span, and while that isn’t nearly as bad as some players on this list, Jones was a top five pick in a draft that included the likes of Eddie George, Marvin Harrison and Ray Lewis.

The Giants have a very strong organizational track record in the draft, but this one really can not be defended. Sorry, Cedric.
