Baltimore Ravens – Kyle Boller (No. 19 pick, 2003)

The Ravens should be thankful for Ozzie Newsome. Newsome has been a tremendous general manager for the entirety of his tenure in Baltimore and, as a result, the organization has not made a single disastrous draft selection in the early rounds.

Yes, Kyle Boller was an overrated prospect, and things did not go particularly well for him, but he was not awful by any stretch. The strong-armed quarterback from California played in the NFL for eight seasons, starting 47 games for the Ravens (42), Rams (4) and Raiders (1). Boller led the Ravens to a 9-7 record while starting all 16 games in 2004 as a 23-year-old, and there were often flashes of brilliance.

However, Boller couldn’t stop throwing interceptions (54 INT, 48 TD in his career) and it never “clicked” during his time in the league. It seems crazy that Kyle Boller is only 34 years old as I write this, but it emphasizes how harsh it is to call him a “bust” at all.

That is how good Ozzie Newsome has been, so unless you are super angry about the picks of Travis Taylor or Mark Clayton at wide receiver, Kyle Boller has to go down as his biggest miss.
