SF. Baylor. Taurean Prince. 22. player. 170. Charlotte also can never have too many wings, and with guys like Courtney Lee and Nicolas Batum set to hit free agency, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist coming off a lost season due to shoulder surgery, Charlotte might need to jump on a wing like Prince and try to develop him.
Charlotte will always need spacing next to MKG on the wing, and Prince should be able to provide that. He took over the sharpshooter role in the Bears’ offense from Brady Heslip two years ago, and connected on 113 of 299 three-point attempts (37.8 percent) over the last two years. Prince has an excellent shooting release, and he should be able to settle in as a solid corner three shooter in the NBA. He will need to work on his passing ability and midrange game, but he’s also a solid finisher, and has potential to become a decent slasher.

Everyone remember’s Prince’s failures in man-to-man defense in Baylor’s first round upset loss to Yale, where Yale’s wings, who were at a clear athleticism deficit, still managed to completely embarrass Prince on back cuts. Prince needs a ton of fundamental work when it comes to off-ball defense, but he did average 1.9 steals per 40 minutes for his career at Baylor, and he has the body type to be a guy who can defend small forwards and stretch fours. The Hornets will need to devote significant time to Prince’s development, but with head coach Steve Clifford’s defensive tutelage and some time on Charlotte’s new D-League team, Prince could possibly become a 3-and-D small forward.

To learn more about Taurean Prince, <a href=
