2016 NFL mock draft: Final edition
Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama
The New York Giants have made a ton of noise this offseason, and the addition of Jarran Reed would only increase the volume. General manager Jerry Reese finally made the move to fire Tom Coughlin after the head coach brought two Super Bowls to Gotham, but failed to deliver a playoff berth over the last four seasons.
After moving on from Coughlin and hiring former offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, the Giants went out and started spending money in free agency. Reese signed defensive end Olivier Vernon to pair with Jason Pierre-Paul on the edges, finally giving defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo something to work with. Reese also brought in defensive tackle Damon Harrison and corner Janoris Jenkins, seriously upgrading the talent level.
With the pick of Reed, the Giants would complete one of the more imposing defensive lines in the NFL. New York has to contend with a division that has ample playmakers, so getting to the quarterback is a must. Reed is a guy who can penetrate on passing downs and stuff the interior run, making him incredibly valuable. He would be a perfect match of value and need here for Big Blue.
