2016 NFL mock draft: Final edition
William Jackson III, CB, Houston
The Pittsburgh Steelers could go ample directions here, with all of the choices being on the defensive side of the football. Pittsburgh reached the AFC Divisional round last year and could have gone further if not for a pesky fourth-quarter fumble and some shoddy defense. The unit has some stars in Ryan Shazier and Lawrence Timmons, but the secondary is a mess and the line could certainly use a little help.
In that vein, Pittsburgh would be wise to select cornerback Williams Jackson III out of the University of Houston. If Jackson is still on the board, the Steelers would have to be elated. Jackson might be the best cover-corner in the draft outside of Jalen Ramsey and should be a starter from the beginning of training camp.
Considering how many points the Steelers score, the pass defense has to be top-notch. Currently, the top corner on the team is William Gay. In reality, this is a disaster waiting to happen for a team many believe will challenge the New England Patriots for a trip to the Super Bowl. Another option would be Andrew Billings out of Baylor, perhaps the best nose tackle in the draft this year.
