2016 NFL mock draft: Final edition
Jalen Ramsey, CB/S, Florida State
The Jacksonville Jaguars are getting better, but the defense could hold them back from making a serious run in the AFC South come September. General manager David Caldwell knows this and is going to be thrilled with Jalen Ramsey still on the board. Jacksonville has had a deplorable secondary for years and with the additions of Prince Amukamara and Tashaun Gipson in the backfield, Ramsey completes a suddenly sunny picture.
Ramsey gives the jaguars great versatility because he can play corner or safety in either a man or zone scheme. The Florida State product would likely spend most of his time in Jacksonville as a top corner, locking down one side while allowing Amukamara to play the second receiver.
Without question, this pick needs to address the defensive side of the ball. Should Ramsey be off the board the Jaguars have to go after either Joey Bosa, Myles Jack or DeForest Buckner. Head coach Gus Bradley finally has some talent to work with on that side of the ball but adding one more piece – along with getting back last year’s top pick, Dante Fowler Jr. – could make all the difference for a team on the rise.
