During the early 2010’s, the San Francisco 49ers went to three consecutive NFC Championship Games and were one pass away from winning their sixth Super Bowl. They were able to get to those games because of their great drafting leading up to those years.

In 2012, the 49ers had a great chance to really strike it rich with a plethora of draft picks. If they could nail their first round pick that year, they might have gone over the top in the Super Bowl and had a team that could continue to compete at the highest level for the rest of the decade.

Instead, the 49ers completely butchered the 2012 draft and it all started with their first pick, A.J. Jenkins. The wide receiver out of Illinois was seen as a surprise pick and it was a surprise, as Jenkins could never get on the field. From the minute he stepped onto the field in training camp, Jenkins looked like a disappointment and a player that didn’t have the talent to compete.

He was only targeted once in his one year with the 49ers and as fate would have it, he dropped that pass. Jenkins would be traded after the season.
