High Value SF

Joe Johnson-Miami Heat (4,700): The Heat brought in Joe Johnson just for times like this, and after a slow start to the series, he has stepped up in the last two games for Miami.  In Game 4, Johnson turned in his best game of the series with 16 points, seven rebounds, and 30.75 fantasy points. He followed that up with another solid overall game with 13 points, five boards, three assists, and two steals for 27.75 fantasy points in Game 5. Johnson is playing big minutes for Miami and is a good bet to get over 25 fantasy points again tonight which would be a solid return for his sub-5K salary.

Maurice Harkless-Portland Trail Blazers (4,500): Although Al-Farouq Aminu had the monster game in Game 4 that got Portland a big win in their last home game, I actually prefer Harkless in the current matchup against the Clippers.  Harkless struggled early in the series, but with Blake Griffin out he isn’t at quite as much of a size disadvantage.  He stepped up in the last game totaling 19 points and ten rebounds for 33.5 fantasy points which was his series-high. Harkless should be around a double-double of production again tonight. He is starting at PF against Jeff Green now in what is a favorable matchup for him the rest of the series. ∗∗

Jeff Green-Los Angeles Clippers (4,200): Green was one of the biggest beneficiaries of Blake Griffin’s absence in Game 4 and Game 5.  He played under 25 minutes in each of the first three games of the series, but totaled 24.25 fantasy points and 33.5 fantasy points in the last two games scoring 17 points in each contest with solid non-scoring numbers as well.  Green will continue to try to fill Blake’s big role in the Clippers’ attack and has the boom-or-bust potential to carry your fantasy team tonight if he gets his offensive game rolling. If the Clippers win tonight and force a Game 7, it will probably be because Green or Crawford goes off.

DeMarre Carroll-Toronto Raptors (4,100): Carroll didn’t have a good game in Game 5 struggling to defend Paul George and only ending up with 12.75 fantasy points on five points, three boards, and two steals. In his previous two games, he had 21.5 fantasy points and 27.75 fantasy points as he continues to play his way back to 100% after missing most of the season due to injury.  Carroll is much higher-risk than Johnson or Harkless but I wouldn’t go any cheaper at SF than Carroll in a shallow SF pool tonight.
