Denver Broncos’ Von Miller and New York Giants’ Odell Beckham, Jr. were two of the most notable people absent from the White House correspondents’ dinner.

According to John Ourand, “Von Miller and Odell Beckham, Jr. are no-shows at the White House correspondent’s diner on Saturday night. Both NFL stars were assigned to sit at the Reuter’s table.

This dinner is more or less a who’s who in terms of sports, music, and Hollywood. It’s an honor to be invited to attend this dinner at the White House, yet the face of both the Denver Broncos and the New York Giants’ franchises were nowhere to be seen.

Miller is in the midst of a huge contract negotiation with the Broncos organization, a deal that could conceivably make him the highest paid defensive football player in the NFL, surpassing the Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

So that could play a part in why Miller isn’t in the Washington, D.C. area on Saturday night? He’s clearly got negotiation business to attend to. But what it the reason behind Beckham not being in attendance for the correspondents’ dinner?

Perhaps he is game planning for the now biannual meetings with arch rival cornerback Josh Norman now of the NFC East’s Washington Redskins? While President Obama is obviously a Chicago Bears fan, since both Miller and Beckham skipped out on the dinner on Saturday night, there is no guarantee that they will be invited back by whomever wins the 2016 Presidential Race.

If Miller and Beckham can sit court side at an NBA All-Star Game, they can certainly find the time to make it to a dinner at the White House during the offseason of their profession, or so one would think.
