5. Jeremy Lin

No one can forget the “Linsanity” that occurred during the 2011-2012 NBA season when the undrafted guard from Harvard took over the NBA. With superstar forward Carmelo Anthony sidelined with an injury, the struggling New York Knicks found a spark plug in Jeremy Lin who went on a tear.

His fame was through the roof during a small stretch of time, and although short lived, it did propel him to not only cashing in on a new deal but also found him the star of his own documentary.

Although the shine has worn off Lin’s star, he is still a huge name that has insane popularity. From his interesting hair, to his videos of dunking on his mom, Lin is definitely a character.

He is also incredibly popular overseas due to his heritage, which is just another reason filmmakers should consider him for a spot in the sequel. In addition to being a U.S. citizen, Lin is also a national of the Republic of China through his parents, and also played overseas as well, which gives him an incredible fan base.

Then, of course, just to top it off, Lin happens to play for the Charlotte Hornets now, a team owned by none other than the star of the original Space Jam, Michael Jordan.
