28.
If you spoke to an outsider to the Michigan football program, they would probably tell you that Jabrill Peppers was the best player on the Wolverines defense in 2015. If you spoke to an insider to the program, they would undoubtedly tell you that, with all due respect to Peppers, Jourdan Lewis was that player.

Lewis was arguably the best cornerback in the country during his junior season, and he likely would have been selected in the first two rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft had he declared. He ranked in the top five of the nation in passes defended, and Lewis routinely “shut down” a full side of the field for a Michigan defense that surpassed any rational expectation in the first year under Jim Harbaugh.

As for the draft, the knock on Lewis is that he is undersized. NFL teams are now looking for “big” corners, and while Lewis isn’t tiny at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, he certainly isn’t ideal. Still, no one questions his flawless technique and high-end athleticism, and Lewis continues to prove skeptics wrong by simply playing bigger than he actually is.

Jabrill Peppers gets the headlines and with good reason, but Jourdan Lewis is very, very good and worthy of a first round draft investment.
. CB. Michigan. Jourdan Lewis. 17. player
