It is always odd when a five-star high school recruit lands at a non-premium football school. That is exactly what happened with Quin Blanding and, as a result, he has operated in general obscurity since the time he arrived at Virginia.

It is time for that to change.

Blanding was a consensus five-star recruit in the Class of 2014, and many saw him as one of the ten best prospects in the country. However, Blanding elected to stay home in Virginia (he is from Virginia Beach) for his college career, spurning offers from the likes of Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State and others. Still, that decision has not kept Blanding from becoming a highly touted NFL Draft prospect.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound safety has accumulated more than 100 tackles in each of his first two seasons in Charlottesville, leading Virginia to a quality defensive unit. Obviously, the Cavaliers have not caught up offensively to pair with that defense, but Blanding is a legitimate blend of size, speed, athleticism and tackling, and even at the sometimes maligned safety position, that is a first round recipe.

Quin Blanding will be a name that you will hear throughout the 2017 draft process and with good reason.
. S. Virginia. Quin Blanding. 29. player. 36
