Rich Hill-Oakland Athletics (7,400)

Hill has been a great pickup for the A’s this season after his late-season surge at the end of last season with his hometown team, the Red Sox.  Hill and the A’s are back on the East Coast for tonight’s matchup as they open a series in Baltimore against the Orioles.

Hill has turned in quality starts in four of his last five outings and enters tonight’s start 3-3 with a 2.53 ERA in his six starts spanning 32 innings.  He has a solid 1.22 WHIP and has walked just 13 to go with his impressive 41 strikeouts.  Hill has hit ten strikeouts twice this season and both those outings came in road starts where Hill is 3-0 with a 0.95 ERA and 28 K’s in 19 innings.

Last season, Hill had an outstanding outing against the Orioles as part of his time in Boston throwing a complete game shutout allowing two hits and a walk while striking out ten.  He probably won’t duplicate that performance tonight, but he’s a very nice value at this price point especially give his strikeout potential.
