No. 4 – New York City needs a distraction after a bad basketball year

To say that the 2015-16 season of basketball for both NBA teams in New York City and their most high-profile college program was a disappointment might be the biggest understatement since saying pizza in the Big Apple is better than anywhere else (it is, so deal with it!)

It wasn’t so much of a surprise that the Knicks had another losing season since they have had winning years just three times in the last 15 seasons (yet still been to the playoffs four times since the Eastern Conference is that bad). What was a surprise was the Brooklyn Nets were just as bad, finishing below the Knicks in the standings.

To add salt to the injury was the play of the St. John’s Red Storm, being led by alum and former NYC legend Chris Mullen. Not only did they go 8-24 on the season, but their losses included games against Fordham, Incarnate Word and the New Jersey Institute of Technology!

Please, Denver…have some mercy on the city and let them keep the top pick if they are the winners of the lottery!
