NHL Playoffs: Penguins vs. Lightning complete television schedule
Here is the complete television schedule for the 2016 Eastern Conference Finals between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
After the dust has settled in the Eastern Conference playoffs, the two teams remaining are the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Pittsburgh eliminated both the New York Rangers and the top seed Washington Capitals. Tampa Bay overcame the Detroit Red Wings and the New York Islanders, who took down the Atlantic Division champion Florida Panthers.
The Lightning will be trying to defend their Eastern Conference title from last season and go to their second consecutive Stanley Cup Final. Tampa Bay has played extraordinarily well despite injuries to their captain Steven Stamkos and defenseman Anton Stralman. They’ve gotten huge contributions from forward Nikita Kucherov, center Tyler Johnson, defenseman Victor Hedman, and goaltender Ben Bishop.
Meanwhile, the Penguins will be trying to go to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since the 2008-09 season. It’s a bit surprising that they beat the Caps despite star centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin getting a combined four assists and zero goals, but that’s telling of their forward depth. Phil Kessel, Nick Bonino, and Carl Hagelin take advantage of weak competition because teams focus so heavily on stopping Crosby and Malkin.
