13. Pat Williams, Orlando Magic

Several franchises have had some success with certain individuals as Lottery charms, but few have been as lucky as Magic senior vice president Pat Williams. Along with helping bring basketball to Orlando in the first place, Williams has been a part of all three lottery wins in franchise history.

In his first two NBA Draft Lotteries in 1990 and 1991, Williams gathered all the stereotypical lucky charms such as rabbit’s feet and four-leaf clovers. From then on, Williams brought nothing but his presence, and the Magic won the Draft Lotteries in 1992, 1993 and 2004 with him representing the franchise.

Those three Lottery wins are tied for the third most among any franchise, trailing only five by the Los Angeles Clippers. In addition, Williams helped set the record for longest Lottery winning odds, as the Magic had just a 1.5 percent chance of taking home the top pick in 1992.

Orlando used those three top picks on Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber (who was traded to the Golden State Warriors), and Dwight Howard. While O’Neal and Howard didn’t leave Orlando on great terms, both played huge roles in franchise history and helped the Magic to their best periods of success.

While Williams has also failed a few times at the Lottery, including in 2013, and an executive isn’t exactly the most unique charm, few individuals can match his track record.
