Milwaukee Bucks

Remember when Giannis Antetokounmpo was the number 15 (!) overall pick?

It feels like a lifetime ago, but the simple reality is that the best player (and prospect) on Milwaukee’s roster was acquired with a mid-first round pick. I think it is fair to suggest that the Bucks may not have seen this level of upside with their prized youngster, but in the same breath, the pick proves that this organization doesn’t necessarily need the top overall pick to be successful in the draft.

It would be nice, though.

The Bucks still have some serious roster holes despite the presence of Giannis, Khris Middleton and Jabari Parker and, to be honest, the top two players in this class wouldn’t fill them. Milwaukee would be the single worst landing spot for Ben Simmons in the lottery given that he closely mirrors Giannis from a deployment standpoint, and while Brandon Ingram is a better fit, he also duplicates much of Milwaukee’s talent already.

As such, the Bucks would be a team that actually looked to trade out of this pick and target an asset like Providence guard Kris Dunn. It would be wild to consider what Milwaukee would actually do if they won the lottery, and that alone is enough to wish for the chaos that would ensue if the Bucks caught the big break.
