Former Philadelphia 76ers center Dikembe Mutombo might have spoiled the NBA Draft Lottery or was trolling fans hard before.

As long as the NBA Draft Lottery has been around, there have been tons of conspiracy theories following it around, ever since the supposed frozen envelope that helped the New York Knicks land Patrick Ewing

While most conspiracy theories in sports often have no weight and are asinine at best, the draft lottery conspiracy theories are actually plausible and many people are convinced that the leagues help teams in need of draft picks.

Before the draft lottery on Tuesday, former Philadelphia 76ers center Dikembe Mutombo was either trolling fans or accidentally spoiled the draft lottery and proved that it is rigged, when he sent out a tweet congratulating the 76ers on winning the No. 1 pick in the draft.

Either Mutombo is just having fun or he’s made a huge mistake. If the 76ers do indeed end up with the top pick in the draft now, the conspiracy theorists are going to feel validated and believe once and for all that the draft is officially rigged.

It might have been a joke, but Mutombo’s trolling, or at least it’s hopefully trolling, might have just made things a lot worse.

He would shortly afterward follow up with this.

Either he’s saving face or it was an honest mistake. Either way, this is certainly something that the league doesn’t need if the 76ers do win.
