2. Gary DiSarcina

Gary DiSarcina, a long-time Angels player, would be a great fit for the Braves. He has experience as a minor league manager, having won the 2013 Minor League Manager Of The Year award from Baseball America while he was with the Pawtucket Red Sox. He was rewarded for his efforts by being interviewed for the Seattle Mariners vacant manager position during the 2013 offseason. When they didn’t hire him, he went on to join the Angels coaching staff as their third base coach.

DiSarcina might not want to leave the Angels. Mike Scioscia’s job security is in question and DiSarcina would be among the favorites to replace him. However, if he is open to moving to another team in order to acquire a managing job, DiScarcina would be an excellent fit in Atlanta. He’s a very smart manager who knows what it takes to be a major league player. More importantly, he understands how hard it is to be one, which should help him relate to younger players and could make him a valuable asset to the Braves.

Even if the Braves aren’t interested in DiSarcina, that’s the kind of manager that they should target: someone who has experience and someone who can grow with the players. DiSarcina could be an excellent long-term option because he’s more than just a place holder. His 2013 award proves that.
