Re-drafting the 2015 NBA Draft
By John Buhler
The Miami Heat made the best value pick in the NBA Draft Lottery last season in taking Winslow at No. 10 out of Duke. He’s going to be a special player out on the wing for head coach Erik Spoelstra for years to come. No wonder Celtics general manager Danny Ainge wanted to give up an absurd amount of picks to land Winslow.
With Winslow already being off the board in this re-draft, it would make a lot of sense for the Heat to take another lottery overachiever from the 2015 NBA Draft in Kentucky’s sharpshooter Devin Booker.
Booker had himself an outstanding rookie season playing for an atrocious Phoenix Suns team. He may look diminutive, but this guy is going to thrive from the beyond the arc in the small ball era.
Since the Heat needed some help in the jump shooting game mid-season, as both point guard Goran Dragic and shooting guard Dwyane Wade are best at attacking the rim, this pick of Booker at No. 10 may have prevented Joe Johnson from coming over to the Heat after the Nets dumped his albatross of a contract.
Phoenix has a very good player in Booker, but in this re-draft he goes to the Heat with Winslow off the board. Without Booker, Phoenix wins maybe a dozen games in 2015-16.
