Kevon Looney. 30. player. 41. . Power Forward. UCLA Bruins

As it is with Popovich and Buford with the Spurs, at this time there isn’t any reason to question the front office moves made by the Golden State Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr and general manager Bob Myers.

That means the No. 30 overall selection of Kevon Looney out of UCLA should be the pick of the Warriors in this 2015 re-draft. Forward is a position group that the Warriors do need to be proactive about, as Harrison Barnes may leave in free agency and that could cause great upheaval in the dominance of Kerr’s exciting juggernaut basketball team.

As it is with any elite NBA team, it takes time for a rookie to crack the rotation. Maybe Looney is able to grow into a larger role than bench warmer in year two with Golden State? The Warriors will inevitably start to lose rotational pieces to other NBA clubs that are willing to overspend on a player that comes from the great basketball culture in the Bay Area.

That could mean a larger role for Looney going forward. Since he is learning what it takes to win in the NBA on the fly as a deep bench player on the defending champion Warriors, when his time comes to play more minutes for the Warriors in the next couple of years, there is no doubt that he’ll be ready for the bigger opportunity.
