Utah is in need of a point guard and they find a nice match here at twelve in Notre Dame’s Demetrius Jackson

Taking over primary ball-handling duties for the Fighting Irish after the departure of Jerian Grant, Jackson became his team’s most important shot creator and facilitator as a junior. Although he’s only 6-1, Jackson can attack the rim even against much larger opponents as he is a bouncy athlete and registered the second highest vertical leap at the draft combine. Most importantly, though, he showed himself to be a capable initiator on offense this season, raising his assist rate from 15.9 to 25.1 percent.

Jackson did see his shooting efficiency drop off in his role as a primary scorer. His three-point percentage fell from 42.9 to 33.1 as he increased his number of attempts as a junior. The good news is that he likely won’t be tasked with being a first option at the next level and should be able to find himself in more catch-and-shoot situations rather than being force to attempt his shots off the dribble. Additionally, despite his decline this season, Jackson was still a 38.1 percent three-point shooter at Notre Dame having shot better than 40 percent in each of his first two seasons.

To read more about Demetrius Jackson, <a href=.
