Five trades for the Sixers’ No. 1 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft that Philly needs to make

The Philadelphia 76ers won the 2016 NBA Draft Lottery and will now have the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft. For a team that has been trusting the process and mired in awfulness for so long, this is a welcomed occurrence as they can add the top pick in this draft to a core of solid players that includes Jahlil Okafor, Nerlens Noel, Ish Smith (possibly), and even Joel Embiid if he can get healthy.

However, with the arrival of Brian and Jerry Colangelo in Philadelphia, there’s at least a chance that they will be looking to turn things around for the Sixers sooner rather than later. One such way to go about doing that would be to view the No. 1 overall pick as an asset over everything else and then to try and mortgage that asset into a proven commodity.

In that sense I’m of course talking about the Sixers making a trade for a proven star in the NBA that could help them right now. Trading draft picks is always tricky, especially before the draft or before a player is signed as the salaries still have to match under the CBA.

The normal result of that is often that multiple teams in a lot of pieces get involved in the trade to make it happen. However, if there’s a will, there’s a way to make any trade to go down. With that in mind and looking at the Sixers with the No. 1 pick, here are five trades that would really shake things up and would be awesome to see go down.
