The Tampa Bay Lightning did something creative and awesome during intermission with their ice rink.

On Wednesday night, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins are battling in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference Finals series. They each won a game and will look to go ahead 2-1 in Tampa, Florida.

For sports fans not familiar with hockey, there is around a 15-minute intermission between periods. This is for the teams to rest and go over strategies while the ice gets cleaned up by a Zamboni. There usually isn’t any big intermission entertainment, as the fans often leave their seats to use the restroom or go to the concession stands.

However, the Lightning did something on Wednesday that probably made a fan or two stick around. They ended up projecting a gigantic game of Mario Kart on the ice rink, which must be seen to be believed.

This is kind of incredible and awesome for those who have played Mario Kart. It’s a classic game from Nintendo that remains popular to this day, so kudos to the Lightning for pulling this off.

Now, if we could get this inside a domed NFL stadium, how great would that be?
