The San Jose Sharks came out on top in Game 3 of the conference finals and now lead the St. Louis Blues 2-1.

The San Jose Sharks defeated the St. Louis Blues 3-0 on Friday in their second shut out of the series. San Jose got two goals from forward Tomas Hertl (one in the first period and one in the third period) and one goal from Joonas Donskoi.

San Jose goaltender Martin Jones, who made 22 saves in Game 3, has not allowed a goal since Blues forward Jori Lehtera scored at 9:15 of the second period in Game 1. This was was Jones’ third shutout of the playoffs, all in the past four games, tying Evgeni Nabokov for most in a single postseason (2004) in San Jose history.

The Sharks are now just two games away from winning the best-of-seven series against the Blues, who needed seven games to defeat their last two rivals, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Dallas Stars.

The Blues dominated play early, scoring the first four shots of the game, but couldn’t capitalize on their various opportunities. Even though the Blues were outshooting the Sharks 15-13 after the second period but trailed by two goals. San Jose is 7-0 in the playoffs when leading entering the third.
