Top 25 MLB prospects that need to be called up right now
13. Jesse Winkler, Cincinnati Reds
The Reds are in the middle of a rebuilding process. Brandon Phillips, Jay Bruce and Joey Votto are the only remaining members of the old guard, and the club are bringing up as many top prospects as possible. Adam Duvall is establishing himself in left field, while pitcher Robert Stephenson and infielder Jose Peraza have both received call ups.
Jesse Winkler is likely the next Reds prospect to get the call. A natural left fielder, his promotion would see Duvall move across the outfield on a daily basis. Winkler has a knack for reaching base, having never posted a full season OBP lower than .390 in four full years as a pro. While he does not hit for much power yet, he could develop a bit more without sacrificing his natural swing. The 22-year-old will undoubtedly see the majors by mid-summer, but whether he gets an everyday opportunity will depend on a potential Bruce trade or an injury to a member of the current roster.
