25. Sean Newcomb, Atlanta Braves

Yet another Atlanta prospect who could see time at the major league level as the team looks to give some big league experience to their prospects. The big, 6-foot-5 lefty has been a strikeout machine over the past two years, first as a member of the Los Angeles Angels system and now the Braves. Since being drafted in 2014, he has played at three levels in two years’ worth of time and is now knocking on the door of another.

This is due to his well-used mix of a mid-90’s fastball, a balance between an out pitch with his curveball and an effective changeup that has served him faithfully. What’s more is that he will continue to improve with more and more innings. The complication is that he has proven his pure “stuff” is more than enough to dominate minor leaguers, but can he get better by doing so at this point? At the same time, it may be early for him to take to major league batters until he has a better sense of control.

With the constantly changing makeup of the Braves staff, it won’t be hard to make room for Newcomb to see what he can do during the season.
