2. People want to play for him

When you’re an opposing fan of a Mourinho-led team, you always complain about how the team plays boring football, and how much you hate watching them play. But they’re only saying that because secretly, they know that they want Mourinho.

Mourinho’s style isn’t the best to watch, but he values results over anything else. And that’s the same philosophy that every club should employ. And Manchester United are coming off of a season where they placed fifth while ranking 10th in the league in terms of goals for.

When Mourinho won the league with Chelsea, fans called his style boring even though they were the highest scoring team. Even if, under Mourinho, they still rank 10th in terms of goalscoring, fans won’t care as long as it leads to results.

Because of his philosophy, he’s a manager that lots of people admire, and want to play under, since they know he will deliver a trophy. For example, David de Gea’s chances of staying at Manchester United must be getting significantly better now that Mourinho is in charge. It certainly beats playing at Real Madrid where he will be forgotten since they go through a new batch of Galacticos every year.

While the Manchester United players must have hated playing against Mourinho, they’ll grow to love him now that they’re under his wing.
