Here is the unofficial starting grid for the 2016 Indianapolis 500.

There isn’t a race in the world that tells a story as beautiful as the Indianapolis 500. On Sunday, James Hinchcliffe went out and created one of the best moments in the history of the sport, when he won the pole for the 2016 Indy 500.

A year ago, Hinchcliffe would have his chance at competing in the race taken away from him, after he suffered a devastating wreck in practice. With Hinchcliffe being the last driver on the track on Sunday, that meant all eyes were on him as he attempted to do something special.

With Josef Newgarden setting an exceptionally fast qualifying run, Hinchcliffe would have to dig deep and pull out his best. That’s exactly what he did and the crowd and his crew, family and friends would go wild as he won the very first pole of his career.

It was an emotional moment that will forever be remembered by racing fans and it’s a great reminder as to why no one should ever give up on their dreams. With a great day of qualifying over, here is the unofficial starting grid for the 2016 Indianapolis 500.
