8. Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboy’s inclusion on this list is not an indictment of the team’s fan base. After all, the Cowboys are America’s Team and have a fans across the globe who are loyal and enthusiastic about their team. It is a shame that the games the Cowboys play at home at AT&T Stadium are dominated by fans of the visiting team. In fact, the Cowboys are said to have the biggest home field disadvantage in the league.

There are other problems with the team that go far beyond an away-game feeling at home games. Two words can sum up the Cowboys’ dysfunction: Jerry Jones. Here are another two: Greg Hardy. And yet another pair: 12 losses. Jones’ micromanagement, perpetual character problems among players, and only one division championship in six seasons are all signs there is something awry within the organization.

Jones is the Cowboys’ owner, president, and general manager. He’s known as a micromanager. In 2013, safety Will Allen, who played a handful of games with the Cowboys, described the atmosphere in Dallas via ESPN:

"“I think that’s the rift that you get, and everybody wonders why Dallas can’t finish, why Dallas isn’t completing everything it needs to. The players are great. The players are tremendous. The coaches are some of the best in the business. You just need a cohesion there that allows players and coaches to really execute and do their jobs and it’s not something hanging over their heads, that if they mess up you’re going to get cut or you’re not going to play or not going to do this. That’s not fun for anybody.”"

It certainly doesn’t sound fun, and it also doesn’t help the team win championships.

The team also brings aboard players like Greg Hardy, who was suspended for ten games for conduct detrimental to the league (and, allegedly highly detrimental to his former girlfriend). Now a free agent, he made bizarre comments about Tom Brady’s supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen when he returned from his suspension last season, and became inappropriately aggressive towards a member of the team’s coaching staff. Jones whitewashed Hardy’s behavior, calling it strong leadership. If Jones’ definition of strong leadership includes the actions of Greg Hardy, it is no wonder the Cowboys are so dysfunctional.
